i sketched this while sitting on a hotel room balcony in lucerne. i later used it for a digital piece that isn’t nearly as impressive, in my opinion. you can find that one under “for me” on the digital work tab.
like the lucerne sketch, i drew this with nothing but a sketchbook and sharpie looking out onto this beautiful scene. i was sitting in this park on a gloomy day. i definitely like the sketch better than the later versions.
this was the biggest, most difficult project i’ve attempted by far. and it’s not very deep or inspired (ok, none of my work is) but i think it captures my illustration style and essence quite well. it’s 18 x 24 inches, and took about 2 years of work, on and off. the finished product is on the homepage and under “for me” !
an allusion to the father john misty album, altered to include visual references to inside jokes and shared memories with the friend i made it for. while it was tedious to plan and draw all these intricacies by hand, i’m very proud of the finished product. you can find it under the “for others” tab in my digital work.
not sure what the idea was behind this one, to be honest. it never developed past a sketch anyway. i still think it looks cool.
this was a commission that i had a lot of fun with. the final version looks far better — it’s in “for others”.
the first of two sketches for “people”, which you can find under the “advnt” tab in digital work.
the second of two sketches for “people”, which you can find under “advnt” in the digital work tab. this one didn’t make the final cut, unfortunately.
this was a sketch of what my room, along with everyone else’s, i imagine, looked like in 2016. posters and chalkboard wall and record player and all. and then i guess i added some clutter to fill the page. this one never made it to the digital stage, which i don’t mind. they’re not all winners!
